Originally born in County Meath, Ireland, to a mother from Moscow, miss Zhanna Talloway wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but it's definitely a stretch to say that her childhood was tragic. Oh no; she was a fairly happy kid. County Meath was practically made of forest- she would spend hours outdoors, running around, climbing trees, doing whatever she pleased. Her parents weren't the most loving, but they weren't disgustingly horrible- they were average, but weren't the best with putting food on the table. Sometimes, pine bark stew would last them days- however, they were still alive and still content.
Although, there was Miss Zhanna who would always be a bit of a troublemaker. She had a penchant for the forest, and would wander off for days at a time- just swinging and climbing trees, looking at bugs and animals- whatever she wanted to do. Her parents didn't really approve of this behavior, but it wasn't like she could bother caring. No, nobody could force her to care about something that she had not the slightest of interest in.
So she ran.
Selfish? Yes. Unreasonable? Yes. Out of nowhere? Partially. Her family had turned sour over the years. Mom got sick. Dad started to drink too much (like father like daughter), and the idea of being locked up in the same place her entire life began to loom on her. She began her travels when she was fourteen- only fourteen, and still continues them, only this time, she's a member of a pirate crew as the Master Gunner, having had skill from seeing her father hunt as a child, soon practicing on the run... But, we skipped out on one important detail.
You don't know Zhanna as Zhanna. You know her as Fox. Only Fox. You don't recognize her on the street because of vibrant hair that's hardly ever seen a haircut- you just see the hat with the slightest glint of red under it. You don't know her as the girl Zhanna. You know her as Fox, the boy. And that's how she intends to keep it. Nobody would hire a girl to work on their ship.
Nobody.
