The first time Caleb saw a pirate was when he was kidnapped by a few when he was ten. Caleb was born in London, England, to a wealthy father and an influential mother. He was the middle child of five and the second son of three. Growing up in a well-to-do family, Caleb rarely had any wants, but he was never truly satisfied with his life. At the age ten, his father decided to invest in new world business. He uprooted his family and they began to arduous journey to the Caribbean.
When they arrived, Caleb was beside himself with joy. Here there were adventures to be had and stories to be told. However, he had no friends. All the other aristocrats had left their children at home or in America, to be raised properly. They viewed Caleb and his siblings as uncivilized. Less then six months after arriving, Caleb was kidnapped and held hostage by a renegade group of pirates who were desperate for some cash.
During his time with them, he saw men who needed no mother, who needed no friends, who were tough and rich and well, amazing. Caleb decided to become a pirate. His father paid his ransom and he was sent back to his family, sporting a few bruises and with a vocabulary full of pirate curses. His mother, shocked at the change in her son, sent him back to England to be properly raised.
He returned to the Caribbean six months ago and promptly ran away, rather then live under the strict British atmosphere any longer. He lied his way into pirate dives and claims to be an orphan from the streets of London. However, his educated accent and cowardly and delicate behavior have earned him the nickname 'Nob' (for nobility) amongst the pirates. He is treated as a sort of pet rather then a full fledged pirate.
Caleb is a big guy, at six foot three and one hundred and seventy-six pounds, but he acts like a snob most of the time. He is cowardly and would rather run then fight. He is obsessed with all things pirate and craves riches and fame more then anything. He abhors alcohol and liquor, but he loves to gamble and loves women. However, women don't love him. Neither does gambling. He tries to bluff his way through things, but fails horribly. He thinks he has everyone convinced of his lies, but really, everyone knows where he comes from. If not exactly, then generally.
He tries to act like a bad guy, but is really sweet and kind at heart. However, he acts cold towards people and says horrible things. He feels bad about it, but his reputation is more important. He misses his family and will often visit them, but he ends up stealing money and food from them. He pretends he stole it from the navy and such, but everyone knows he's lying. The only real reason the pirates keep him around is because he's smarter then most and can read AND write and knows the working of the British Navy, along with their tactics and techniques (he was supposed to enter the Navy once his schooling was over).
